There are people in need and others who want to help. We're looking for both.

Building Relationships

Sunrise Outreach operates as a community mobilization model. As such, people come from many churches, businesses, organizations, etc., throughout the valley, to serve (not fix) those in need. As volunteers grow from apathy to empathy, their perspectives change, prior judgments erode, altered priorities emerge. They become better stewards, better informed and more conscientious voters, better neighbors. As the homeless and hungry receive help, and feel the love of their community, humanity emerges and reconciliation develops with God, their neighbors and creation. Opportunity and accountability within these relationships lead to positive social outcomes: lower crime, safer streets, stronger commerce, etc.

SOC Help Centers

Our Yakima office remains open from 8:30am till 4:00, and our Sunnyside office 8:00 till noon, each day, Monday through Friday, to receive those in need. We offer rental assistance, help with utility bills, bus tickets, etc. We have also become an effective referral center as we are connected with numerous agencies through the Homeless Network of Yakima County.
