Sunrise Outreach Center is a Christian humanitarian non-profit located in Yakima, Washington. Our purpose is to meet people where they are with the love of Christ and build on what they have.
Sunrise Outreach Center was birthed on the precepts and promises of Isaiah 58:6-9
“Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke? Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter— when you see the naked, to clothe him, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood? Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear, then your righteousness [a] will go before you, and the glory of the LORD will be your rear guard. Then you will call, and the LORD will answer; you will cry for help, and he will say: Here am I. ”If you do away with the yoke of oppression, with the pointing finger and malicious talk, (New International Version)
This has been a great season. We facilitated the Compassion Connect event at the Sun Dome during the first day of the Luis Palau CityFest. About 2,000 came out that day and received services ranging from medical, dental, sign up and approval of food stamps, GAU, and an even larger number of kiosks for information and help about our community, help with food, prayer, and the list goes on. We also painted Barge Lincoln Elementary School. This included the outside of the building, their gym, three portables, and lots of doors, signs and more. We also spruced up their yard.
The Field Outreach Team expanded from 5 to 7 days per week, and now reaches outside Yakima to Sunnyside. The Food and Clothing bank nearly doubled in size this year. We're expanding the Extreme Weather Shelters into Sunnyside. The needs just seem to be getting bigger all the time.
The Lord is being clear on what we can do though. You can call our office if you want to help: 509.225.9310. Check out the other tabs for more details and scheduling information.
